Mt. Everest Summit Video / Film - Everest Peace Expedition

An amazing and touching summit video from The Everest Peace Project's Everest Climb for Peace. History was made as they had the first Israeli - Palestinian summit push; and a joint Israeli/Palestnian flag was raised on the summit. www.everestpeaceproject.org ...

The closest most of us will get to the summit most likely - amazing...

Omg, thats amaing. Were they being sponsered?
How long did it take them to get up there?
How many people went?
Is it scaried going up or down?

Anyway, cool video - and still not using Youtube I see. Shame. Oh well.

Hilda - I did try it...interesting music choice ;-)

I signed up for youtube (I had to in order to upload to the blog), but haven't had a chance to browse much - I didn't find too many videos (other than the mentos in coke ones) that fit with this blog - I still have to look more though.

It takes a couple weeks to make the ascent, but the actual reaching of the peak is done in a single day. It takes so long because they have to stop and acclimate to the altitude.

I don't know which is scarier, but I do know coming down can be more dangerous because you are more tired.

That was so interesting. It must be freezing up there!! I can't imagine the beautiful views from up there. They must be so tired but relieved to have reached the top.I don't think that i would have made it to the top.

It would be very amazing to climb Everest ... on second thought, it is unrealistic for normal Americans like us. Too expensive, we're not in shape, acclimation, time, etc. Still, it is one of those romantically dangerous things.

Nick - I agree on the romantic but unrealistic dream idea - I think that's why I read so many books about Everest - it's my little way of keeping the dream alive.

Jeff - we actually don't have that many tapes of Everest, due to the extreme physical rigor of climbing, the cold temperatures (they affect the film), and the added weight of the cameras.

With the recent development of lightweight digital cameras, we are getting more, but I wouldn't say we have "plenty" just yet.

The other thing about this one that makes it special is that it was a joint Isreali-Palestinian expedition - in case you didn't know, those two countries don't exactly like each other.

That was so cool, being that high would be amazing. Was that thing that the girl had around her neck a mask for breathing?
