Dialogo language school and Cobb County

Here is the video of my trip with Cobb county teachers to Brazil. You will see Salvador, the city I stayed in, some of the field trips I went on (including a high school where we watched the kids rehearse a play), and unfortunately for you, some footage of me trying to samba.

Enjoy (or not, as the case may be).

When did you go to Brazil Mrs. Q? You haven't been gone more than a day this year ... was it during summer? Anyway, my stupid dial-up connection is outdated, dinosaur-slow crap that prevents me from seeing any videos you post, unfortunately. Well, it is probably good. Oh, well.

That is the Brazil National Anthem. Much better then our crummy one.

Ouviram do Ipiranga as margens placidas,
Desafia o nosso peito a propria morte,
O patria amada, Idolatrada, Savle! Salve!
Brasil, um sonho intenso, um raio vivido,
De amor e de esperanca a terra desce,
Se em teu formoso ceu, risonho e limpido,
A imagem do Cruzeiro resplance,
Gigante pela propria natureza,
Es belo, es forte, impavido colosso,
E o teu futuro espelha essa grandeza,
Terra adorada,
Entre outras mil,
Es tu, Brasil, o Patria amada,
Dos filhos deste solo es mae gentil,
Patria amada, Brasil!

PATRIA AMADA, BRASIL!

I went to Brazil for almost the entire month of June (May 30th - June 26th). I went with 20 teachers from Cobb County (including several elementary teachers - 3 from East Valley), and the purpose was to learn some Portuguese.

Most of the trip was paid for by grant money that the county gets becuase of its high number of ESOL students. I had a choice of Mexico to study Spanish or Brazil to study Portuguese - I chose Brazil because of the large number of Brazilian kids at ECMS.

The plane ride was in two legs - about 2 hours to Miami and then about 9 1/2 hours to Rio. My trip home was shorter because I left from Salvador which is further north.

One of the highlights was being there for the World Cup - they even close school for the games!

Check out my archives - I have some posts about the trip in the May and June archives.

I am planning on posting some pics on my myspace (and I'm working on a layout! Give me a break - I'm too busy looking for videos to get that all set up, ha ha).
