Flaming Gummy Bear

This is a chemical reaction between potassium chlorate and sugar (gummy bear). The potassium chlorate is melted to a liquid which then reacts with the gummy bear. The potassium chlorate is oxidized, releasing oxygen gas, which creates the extremely bright and hot reaction.

Warning: these demos are to for teachers to perform only!

That's pretty cool. I wish I could do that kind of stuff at home. I always love doing homemade experiments, like the traditional baking soda and vinager. It's so fun.

Gummy bears are for eating, not melting into some weird liquid!!!
(I like gummy bears, esp. green and red ones!)

The poor gummy bear! I agree with Loren. Gummy bears are meant to be eaten not to be mixed with strange liquids. It was pretty funny though.
