A Classic - Diet Coke & Mentos
Some diet Coke...some Mentos...and a lot of time!!!

this i thought was a little bit of everything! i still don't get how the diet coke can react that wildly to some stinkin mentos!!! another one of my questions is can this same reaction happen if instead you used normal coke rather than diet? i really think we should do an experiment of this on the last day of school, even though i dont think our first period class could handle it... (no offense) hehe
hahah. i agree with Lindsey, this would be a fantastic idea of fun outside wiht a bunch of crazzyyy 8th graders. haha. and the same question too, would it be the same with regular coke? Wow, this makes me want to go to Publix and get a big load of mentos and coke! wohoo!
But i really think it;s funny how someone had that much time!!! i mean, goodness. what can i say, gotta love them "experiment with anything nerds"
that was freaking amazing! someone definitely has too much time on their hands. but i guess thats why we love them. anyway! i agree with everyone who agrees with lindsey: we should test regular vs. diet coke. also i think we should test different flavors of mentos. and you can just make all the boys sit in a corner. -platner
LUKE Yeah I guess this is a pretty cool video. What a waste of diet coke. Instead of just coke vs diet coke, a variety with a little Hawaiian sauce in Hawaiian punch would be nice. When I grow up I want to experiment with strong reactions and waste away my life playing with pop and freshmakers. I didn't think mentos were that highly reactive to diet coke. I don't think that anything in diet coke could react that bmuch. My favorite part was when they put the mentos in the diet coke. We should do this in class.
I thought this experiment was more of an urban legend or something. But apparently not. It is real. But why is it only diet coke? They should also try stuff like Mountain Dew and Root Beer. And CHERRY coke. And sparkling cider. And...
That was totally awesome! How/Why oes the Diet Coke react to the Mentos that way? I've always wonderd that... We should definitely do this as a celebration of school ending. I mwan we are leaving. How on earth did they get enough time to do this:? It's crazy!
The reaction has something to do with the outer coating of the candy and the CO2 gas in the soda. We can try it on the Monday or Tuesday of the last week of school if you guys want to bring in the materials.
hahahaha i am so doing this this summer! i think its pretty cool. but i think we should do it on the last week of school. it would be fun. didn't you say you did it as a volcano lab last year?
This is a pretty cool idea! I never would have guessed that Mentos would create such a reaction to Diet Coke. I guess Diet Coke has a stronger reaction than regular Coke, because they probably tested it on both. What I would like to see, though, is the different reactions that different sodas have, such as Sprite and Sunkist!
this video was really interesting I didn't know you can do show with a 2 litre bottle of coke and 4 mentos I think it is really cool but at the same time it is a lot of waste of coke
We could have had about five museums in our class and 10 parties in our school with this much amount of coke
hahaha. Ya this would be really fun to try!!!! We should do this on the last day of school everybody gets a pack of mento's and a 2-liter bottle of diet coke. That way the school year can end with a blast!
