Charged Up About Electricity!

Batteries. Lightbulbs. Things we use everyday that we don't even think about. If you lived 150 years ago, you wouldn't think about them either - they didn't exist!

Have you ever wondered how they worked?

Energizer has a great Learning Center and Duracell has some FAQs. A great source for information is HowStuffWorks. Find out about batteries, lightbulbs, capacitors, and solar cells.

Read a little about these and try to summarize it in your own words. Could you explain it to your folks? Could you explain to to a little brother or sister? Any new knowledge gained? Any surprises?

ok...i didn't really read them but i wanted to explain how wierd it is to actually think that people made up these incredable inentions out of thin air!!! imagine how great you would feel though if you made an invention that would not only progress the whole way of life but also to get other real smart people going, that would be, i htink the best thing ever!!!

I don't think that these inventions were made out of thin air - people had ideas, tried them out, then fixed the mistakes, and tried again...so on and so on 'til they found something that worked.

Who had the time back then to come up with this stuff. I mean really, even though they helped us down the road, they honesly had a lot of time on their hands.

They had a lot more time because they weren't wasting online and playing video games, lol.
